Britain's reigning Touring Car Champion heads Mintex assault on the ASCAR title

Jason Plato blasts onto the Eurospeedway grid this weekend to continue his bid to win the 2002 ASCAR Championship. With support from Mintex, Britain's biggest name in braking, and the 500 horsepower Ford Taurus, prepared by the ultra-professional outfit of Bintcliffe Sport Racing, he has all the credentials to take the season by storm.

34 year-old Plato, also known to millions as the face of Channel 4 programme Driven, is the highest-profile driver to have joined the ASCAR series for its first full year. With ten years of competitive motorsport behind him, Plato has proved his skill and commitment at all levels, and can point to his 2001 BTCC show-stopping performance as a clear sign to fellow competitors that he means business.

Plato commented; "Driving an ASCAR car is totally different to anything I have ever done before. There's a long way to go and still a lot to learn, but it's fabulous."
