Press Releases03/09/02 THERE’S NO
STOPPING MINTEX STATESIDE The most recent triumph came from the latest round of the premier Winston Cup series, at Watkins Glen. Characterized by long straights, sharp elevation changes and fast, sweeping turns, the 2.45-mile Watkins Glen road course boasts bumper-to-bumper action from start to finish, on a track that’s tough on drivers and rough on brakes.
The 2002 Sirius Satellite Radio race at ‘The Glen’ was just that, living up to all the hype as one of the Winston Cup’s most punishing races. Mintex though, showed its class; nearly 40% of the field were running Mintex F Series racing friction materials, and five of the top ten across the finish line were similarly equipped with Mintex, the world’s biggest name in braking. Despite being relative newcomers to NASCAR, Mintex brake pads are fast becoming top stoppers. Confidence is high following recent results achieved by drivers running Mintex F-Series pads. Following up a 1-2 finish at The Glen last year, Mintex recorded an outright 1-2 victory in this year’s Virginia 500, round the brake-sapping Martinsville Speedway, and can now boast a strong showing at Watkins Glen for the second year running.
Mintex has a long and illustrious motor racing history behind it - from club racing to F1 - and its major push in US motorsport has resulted in over 30% of NASCAR Winston Cup competitors now regularly running Mintex brake products. With
major teams in the CART FedEx series doing likewise, it is a further illustration
of how the international market leader has stepped up the pace considerably
over the last year.
