MINTEX FINDS WINNING FORMULA
Top-stoppers rise to the Tuscan Challenge

Mintex, the world’s biggest name in braking, helped CDL Racing and driver Steve Guglielmi to back-to-back titles in the 2002 TVR Tuscan Challenge, Britain’s fastest single-make series.

Countdown Development Limited Racing, equipped with Mintex F2R pads, boasted five drivers in the top 15 final places of the ultra-competitive championship, the best ever result by any team in the series 13-year history, to add to their 2001 Championship success.

TVR Tuscan star, Steve Guglielmi also added to his 2001 triumph, claiming the 2002 crown in record-braking fashion with 14 wins from 24 races.

Guglielmi proved his skill on more than one occasion in 2002, claiming a perfect four wins out of four at Castle Combe. His superiority at the Wiltshire circuit, owed in part to the backing of Britain’s top-stoppers, Mintex. Guglielmi commented; “I was definitely better on the brakes, which made the difference.”

Team mate David Mason, one of a five-man driver line-up for CDL Racing, claimed seventh spot in the championship, with Mintex also backing Darren Dowling, Gareth Evans and Graeme Mundy for ninth, 13th and 15th spots.

For Mintex, the Tuscan triumph is a further sign of the company’s versatility, which has seen them compete in series from Mini’s John Cooper Challenge to the US motorsport phenomenon NASCAR, in 2002.

TMD Friction Group Motorsport Manager Terry Armstead, commented; “We’ve had consistent success across the board this season, and to provide the stopping power to the top team in Britain’s fastest single-make series, is a measure of our intent to step up the pace in all formula next season.
